We are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive the growth of a leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in custom chemistry solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, build client relationships, and help expand the company’s presence across North America.


As the Business Development Director, you will play a key role in driving business development efforts in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences industries, with a focus on providing tailored solutions for drug development and manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and expand market presence in North America.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities, focusing on both small and large molecule drug development, as well as custom synthesis and contract manufacturing services.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences sectors.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including R&D and production, to deliver customized chemistry solutions that meet the specific needs of clients.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, from identifying new opportunities to contract negotiation and long-term partnership management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance visibility and build the company’s reputation in the market.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales in the CDMO, custom chemistry, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • A strong technical background in chemistry, with experience in drug development, custom synthesis, or contract manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies and close complex deals.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of business growth.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within North America and internationally as required.
